The Pineapple Express hits Bellevue
The Pineapple Express – a train of winter rain storms – has hit the Northwest. The kids and I zipped down the Coal Creek Trail to see what had happened to the waterfall. It did not disappoint. The creek and the waterfall were both raging. Check out my Coal Creek Waterfall video.
Coal Creek is a part of the Cougar Mountain Regional Wildlands Park. Coal Creek juts right into the south Bellevue city limits. Housing developments line both sides of the ravine, but just out of sight. Down the trail you experience the wilderness in full.
Coal Creek is an interesting historic area. One hundred years ago, two hundred men and 20 mules worked at the coal mines here. You can see one of the mine entrances in the video. The coal was shipped to San Francisco.
